Enrollment FAQs

Who is eligible to attend?

Any Ohio resident entering grades K-12 in 2024-25 is eligible to apply to attend Northwest Ohio Classical Academy tuition-free. (The State of Ohio provides funding for Ohio residents but not for out-of-state residents.)

Which grade levels are offered?

NOCA is a full Kindergarten-12th grade school. We do not offer preschool.

Is it too late to apply for the current school year?

No, you can apply at any time for the current school year. If a seat is available in your student’s grade, we will offer them a seat. If your student’s grade has reached its enrollment cap, the student will be placed on the waitlist for his/her respective grade.

How do I learn more about the school?

Please visit our enrollment events page for upcoming enrollment events. You may also wish to watch one of our informational videos

How old does my child need to be to apply for kindergarten?

Students must turn five-years-old by September 30, 2024, in order to be eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year. No exceptions.

Is there an application form to submit for enrollment?

Open enrollment for new students is open for the 2024-2025 school year. Applications for the 2025-2026 school year will open November 1, 2024. Please visit our How to Apply page for more information.

What happens if the number of applications exceeds capacity?

The admissions lottery for the 2025-26 school year will be held on February 27, 2024. If the number of applications exceeds capacity for any grade, those students who are not given a seat will be placed on a waitlist respective to their grade. Any additional applications submitted after February 26, 2025 will also be placed on the waitlist respective to their grade.

Is anyone given preference in the enrollment process and lottery?

Yes. Students who already have a sibling in the school or admitted to the school are given weighted preference during the lottery.

How will I learn the results of the lottery and know if my student has been offered a seat?

You will receive an email from the enrollment office within one business day of the lottery with an official enrollment offer or waitlist notice. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that NOCA has the most updated contact information in Final Forms for notification purposes.

What happens once I am notified that my child has been offered an available seat?

Parents of all students who have been offered an available seat must complete and submit registration forms with valid supporting documents by the deadline communicated by the enrollment manager or the student’s seat will be forfeited to a student on the waiting list.

Will my student have to participate in the lottery each year?

No. Once officially attending, all NOCA students have the opportunity to re-enroll for future years, subject to continued Ohio residency and other academic and disciplinary guidelines as stated in the Family Handbook. Students who do NOT re-enroll by the deadline cannot be guaranteed a seat for the forthcoming school year.

Will the grade-level waiting lists for the current school year carry over into the enrollment period for the following school year?

No. Waiting lists are terminated each academic year and do not carry over. The waiting list is terminated prior to the lottery event for the following school year.
