Extra-Curricular Activities and Clubs

Students are offered enrichment opportunities that complement the curriculum and mission of Northwest Ohio Classical Academy. Clubs meet during lunch and as needed after school as communicated by the club moderator.

Spelling Bee: Students in K-8 have the opportunity to compete in Spelling Bee competition. Stay tuned for more details.

Geography Bee: Students in K-8 have the opportunity to compete in Geography Bee competition. Stay tuned for more details.

Quiz Bowl: StudenGeography Beets in K-8 have the opportunity to compete in Quiz Bowl competitions. Stay tuned for more details.

Chess Club: Students in K-8 have the opportunity to compete in Chess Tournaments. Stay tuned for more details

Junior Classical League (JCL): Students in grades 9-12 explore cultural and historical enrichment via Latin based media, games, and activities. Students also have the opportunity to attend the JCL Convention and compete in creative writing, vocabulary, academic, leadership, and scholarship competitions.

National Honors Society (NHS): Students in grades 9-12 have the opportunity to extend the mission and vision of classical education through membership in the National Honors Society (NHS). Four pillars that students must demonstrate in order to gain admission into this club are: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. Enrollment in National Honors Society (NHS) helps to foster student achievement and student engagement.

Student Council (STUCO): Student Council is comprised of students in grades K-12 who have a desire to serve their school community by holding elected, appointed or representative office. Students must adhere to the Student Code of Conduct and exhibit consistent scholarship, and a commitment to faithfully planning and executing activities that promote school spirit. Student Council is a fun and social way for students to exercise creative leadership.

Speech & Debate Team: Speech and Debate team offers students in grades 9-12 a forum to hone their public speaking, critical thinking skills, and practice of ethics as they explore different categories of rhetoric. Categories include: Extemp, Original Oratory, Interpretation, and Program Oral Interpretation (Prose & Poetry). Students compete against neighboring schools through competitions hosted through the Ohio Speech and Debate Association (OSDA).

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Club: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math club is new club that will provide an opportunity for students in grades 7-12 to compete in various math and science projects and challenges. The club is rooted in the pursuit of knowledge through inquiry, creativity, and application of STEM concepts. Projects, competitions and challenges will vary and are set to be determined by math and science faculty who moderate the club.

Student Ambassador Program: Student Ambassadors are trained students in grades 7-12 who provide tours of the campus to visiting students and families. Ambassadors also serve as hosts to visitors who shadow the school ensuring that the visitor’s needs are attended to. Students who are interested in serving as an Ambassador must be exemplary in conduct and thoughtful when entertaining prospective students. Student Ambassadors must complete an application and attend training with Mrs. Desmond.
