Facilities Assistant Job Description
We are seeking a reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Facilities Assistant to support the smooth daily functioning of school operations. This role is essential in providing logistical and administrative support to staff, faculty, and leadership, ensuring an effective learning environment for students and a productive workplace for employees.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Performs duties as assigned or directed by the Facilities Manager.
- Conduct routine internal and external perimeter checks, ensuring doors are locked, vehicles and persons on and around campus are known and accounted for, and communication equipment is functional.
- Maintain inventory and log of two-way radios, ensuring upkeep, developing use protocols, and training staff on proper use.
- Maintain inventory and log of staff vehicles and parking permits.
- With Facilities Manager, maintain inventory and log of staff titles and campus IDs.
- Be a general presence in hallways and common spaces to ensure student, staff, and guest safety.
- Routinely scout campus exterior and building interior for hazards to students and staff.
- Develop and maintain protocol and procedure for all external student functions with Administration.
- Carline, bus, and other student arrival dismissal functions, configuration, and staffing
- Recess boundary, staffing, and safe-conduct policy
- Advise on various event logistics at school.
- Assist reception with visitor identification, logging, and necessary access to building.
- Primary staff member supervising all outdoor recess.
- Supervise students during lunch in LS/US dining commons.
- Support Facilities Manager with immediate supply restoration, cleanup of facilities, furniture/equipment set up/tear down, and grounds preparation.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or higher (preferred).
- Background in construction, general maintenance or housework is preferred but not required.
- Strong handyman skills and the ability to use a variety of tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Commitment to model moral character in line with the school’s core virtues and the pursuit of the Good, True, and Beautiful.
- Previous experience in classical education is preferred, but not required.
- Must clear a current background check through the BCI/FBI.
