Northwest Ohio Classical Academy (NOCA), a tuition-free classical charter school in Toledo, Ohio, seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Upper School Mathematics Teacher to join our growing faculty for the 2025–2026 school year.

At NOCA, we are committed to providing a content-rich, virtue-centered education in the classical liberal arts tradition. Our Upper School curriculum emphasizes mastery of foundational concepts, logical reasoning, and mathematical elegance—preparing students not only for college and careers, but for thoughtful citizenship and a well-examined life.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach upper-level math courses (e.g., Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and/or Calculus) to students in grades 7–12
  • Develop students’ capacity for logical reasoning, precision, and clarity of thought
  • Integrate Socratic discussion and classical pedagogy into math instruction when appropriate
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and maintain a cohesive academic program
  • Uphold the moral and intellectual mission of the school both inside and outside the classroom
  • Support student formation through mentorship, high expectations, and example

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a related field required; advanced degree preferred
  • Prior teaching experience strongly preferred, especially in a classical or liberal arts context
  • Strong content knowledge and an ability to communicate mathematical ideas clearly
  • Commitment to the mission and virtues of a classical education
  • Ohio teaching license or willingness to pursue appropriate licensure

About Northwest Ohio Classical Academy
NOCA is Ohio’s first state-chartered, publicly-funded, independently-governed, tuition-free, classical school. It is curriculum school of the Barney Charter School Initiative of Hillsdale College, a network of classical charter schools united by curriculum and purpose. NOCA opened its doors in 2019, with 210 students in grades K-8, and has seen strong and steady growth. It now serves grades K-12 to over 600 students.
